The Drive from Abu Dhabi to Al Wakrah

Al Wakrah, on the coast south of Doha, draws guests for its old souq, the seafront and the stadium, and for visits to family in the southern suburbs. After the long desert run through Saudi Arabia and the Qatari border, the road reaches Doha and carries on south. Arriving before the afternoon rush means less time in city traffic at the end of a tiring day.

By road it is about 590 km and usually takes 7 to 9 hours, plus time at the border. Most of the way is on E11 and Highway 95.

Al Wakrah is an old fishing and pearling town on Qatar's east coast, south of Doha, now known for its restored souq, corniche and family neighbourhoods.
