From the Airport to Al Ahsa

Al Ahsa is the great oasis of eastern Saudi Arabia, a World Heritage site with vast date palm groves, so visitors from Bahrain come for relatives, Jabal Al Qarah, the Qaisariah souq or to buy dates. The route crosses the King Fahd Causeway and passes Khobar and Dhahran before turning inland across desert plain, about 200 km in all. Plan for daytime arrival if you want to see the oasis.

By road it is about 200 km and usually takes 3 to 4 hours, plus time at the border. Most of the way is on Highway 615. The road passes Al Khobar and Dhahran.
