The Drive from Makkah to Muscat

Makkah to Muscat is an extreme overland journey, mostly taken by Omani families coming home after Umrah and by travellers who want to see the UAE on the way. The route crosses the kingdom through Riyadh, enters the UAE at Al Ghuwaifat, and carries on through Al Ain and Al Buraimi into Oman. Overnight stops make the long distance manageable.

By road it is about 2,200 km and usually takes 25 to 29 hours, plus time at the border. Most of the way is on Highway 40 and Highway 10. The road passes Riyadh, Al Ain and Al Buraimi.

Pickup and Drop-off

In Makkah we collect you from any address, including Central Haram Area, Abraj Al Bait, Al Aziziyah and Al Shawqiyah.

In Muscat we drop off wherever you need, such as Qurum, Al Khuwair, Mutrah and Ruwi.

Muscat is the capital of Oman, set between the Gulf of Oman and rugged mountains. Visitors come for government and business, the seafront at Mutrah, the Grand Mosque and its beaches.
