The Drive from Riyadh to Al Wakrah
Al Wakrah is a relaxed seaside town south of Doha with a restored old souq and a sandy waterfront, popular for weekend breaks and family outings. The journey goes through Al Ahsa to the Salwa border and then across southern Qatar, 7 to 9 hours. Because you reach it before Doha proper, it avoids much of the city traffic.
By road it is about 580 km and usually takes 7 to 9 hours, plus time at the border. Most of the way is on Highway 522 and Highway 615. The road passes Al Ahsa.
