The Drive from Riyadh to Sohar
Sohar is a port city on Oman's Batinah coast, and the run from Riyadh is popular with business travellers tied to the port and industrial zone, as well as families visiting relatives. The road passes Al Ain and Al Buraimi, then drops to the coast on the Omani side. Ask for a dawn start so you cross the borders and arrive before dark.
By road it is about 1,100 km and usually takes 13 to 15 hours, plus time at the border. Most of the way is on Highway 10 and E11. The road passes Al Ain and Al Buraimi.
