From the Airport to Muscat

Business and leisure travellers bound for Oman's capital sometimes land at Al Maktoum and continue by road. The route heads east to Hatta in the Hajar mountains, crosses into Oman and runs along the Batinah coast through Sohar. The coastal plain gives wide views of the mountains on one side and the sea on the other, and Sohar is a natural place for lunch.

By road it is about 440 km and usually takes 6 to 7 hours, plus time at the border. The road passes Sohar.

Al Maktoum International Airport lies in Dubai South, southwest of the main city near Jebel Ali, and is used mainly by cargo, charter and selected passenger flights.
