From the Airport to Ras Al Khaimah
Holidaymakers and golfers heading to Ras Al Khaimah sometimes fly into Al Maktoum for the road link north along the coast. The drive passes Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, then enters a quieter coastal area with the Hajar mountains rising behind. Say whether you are going to Al Marjan Island, Al Hamra or the mountains, as the last stretch differs for each.
By road it is about 140 km and usually takes 2 to 3 hours. Most of the way is on E611 and E311. The road passes Ajman.

Al Maktoum International Airport lies in Dubai South, southwest of the main city near Jebel Ali, and is used mainly by cargo, charter and selected passenger flights.
