The Drive from Bahrain to Taif

Taif is the classic escape from the Gulf summer, with cool mountain air, rose farms and hillside hotels. The journey is a very long desert highway until the road climbs into the Sarawat range, and the last winding stretch is the part to be rested for. By road it is about 1,250 km and usually takes 14 to 16 hours, plus time at the border. Most of the way is on Highway 40. The road passes Al Khobar, Dhahran and Dammam.
